Joy has renewed her exclusive contract with SM Entertainment, and is looking forward to starting the next chapter of her career with the label that has been her home since 2014.

On January 14, SPOTV NEWS reported SM’s statement confirming the renewal of the idol actress’ contract.

“Joy has renewed her contract with SM due to the trust she has developed over the years with the company,” SM announced. “Joy will proceed with her activities with the full support of SM.”

The agency also mentioned Joy’s bandmates Seulgi and Irene, who both renewed their contracts with SM in February 2024.

“We are happy to continue our beautiful journey with Seulgi and Irene, together with Joy,” the label said. “In addition to Joy’s group activities in Red Velvet, we would also like to provide our support in her solo endeavors and acting career as Park Sooyoung.”

Joy also confirmed the news, saying, “I’ve had an in-depth dialogue with people who have been with me for ten years, built through mutual trust and belief.”

The “Hello” singer also touched on her career goals.

“I wanted to move forward in a good direction in the future,” he said. “I will do my best to show various sides of myself to fans through my positive synergy with SM.”

Red Velvet debuted in August 2014 with the iconic song “Happiness.” The girl group has since established its status as a major player in K-pop’s third-generation era through hits such as “Red Flavor,” “Ice Cream Cake,” “Bad Boy,” “Cosmic” and “Psycho.”
