“I mean I’m almost there.”

BLACKPINK Jennie’s newfound freedom is both a curse and a blessing in disguise. After breaking her solo contract with YG Entertainment and starting her own agency, ODD ATELIER (OA), the singer has found herself with very little free time on her hands as she chases a second solo album and, of course, being the boss head of his new company.

In an interview with Advertising billboardthe superstar spoke about the preparation of his next solo album (title not yet revealed), which he revealed he had been thinking about for a good minute.

Jennie explained that she would set her sights on bigger dreams as BLACKPINK’s final tour wraps up in 2023.

“I couldn’t stop myself from starting to plan ahead, I’m just like that,” she said Advertising billboard.

“I listed the things I want in my life and started identifying, or prioritizing, what my next step would be. And immediately I thought, ‘I haven’t achieved my dream of releasing a solo album yet.’ I wanted to satisfy myself by achieving that goal.”

The singer, a self-described perfectionist, revealed that creating her next album was a meticulous process, as she agonized over the details of “Mantra,” the album’s lead single.

“It was a long process because American artists usually take a few years to make an album, but we have time constraints because [this year] has to get back to Blackpink’s business again,” explained Alison Chang, head of global business at OA.

“He really wanted to showcase his artistry through this album, and in the beginning we were meeting producers and writers that he didn’t really fit in with. I think finding his sound during this process was a little difficult, and getting to ‘Mantra,’ it took a long time to find the perfect first single to let the world know that this is the beginning of his solo career.

As for the rest of the album, scheduled for release in 2025, Jennie explains that while she can’t reveal any explicit details, the project taps into her newfound sense of independence and perfectionist tendencies as she evolves into her alter ego, Ruby Jane. .

“It’s not good to be someone who always says, ‘I’m sorry, I can’t say anything,’” he says, almost apologetically.

“I mean I’m almost there. I’ll just say, ‘I don’t do well with time.'”

As a peace offering to anticipatory fans, Jennie reveals that they’ll see her grow into a “complete person.”

“I intend to complete myself as Jennie Ruby-Jane, to be a complete person, in a way,” she said. “You’ll definitely understand what I mean once the album comes out, but because I’m playing with a lot of different genres and elements – I’m rapping here, I’m singing here, I’m harmonizing here, I’m speaking here… The overall sound has been assured to me that I liked every single one [song].

“I didn’t want to be forced to put a song on my album – that’s what I really fought for,” she continued. where we were like, “Wow.” I think we’re ready.'”
