On January 7, aespa’s Winter appeared on Weverse to host a “menpa” – where his director responded to comments and posts on the Weverse fan interaction platform.
However, during this session, Winter was bombarded with various hateful comments, which she responded to.
In particular, to a comment that asked, “Why aren’t you dead yet?”along with cigarette emojis, the female idol simply said, “Smoking is very bad for your health.”
Regarding another comment that read, “You look like a dork,” Winter mockingly responded, “Oh, I’m known for having a puppy face.”
Finally, in response to a comment telling her to do so “Deactivate your data and sleep forever“, replied Winter, “Eat this“, before adding an ice cream cone emoji and saying: “Your mood will improve significantly.”
Following Winter’s actions, many female idol fans were furious with Weverse for not filtering such hateful comments on the app. They also called on SM Entertainment to take concrete action to protect Winter, tagging both SM and Weverse and trending the issue on SNS platforms such as X (formerly Twitter).
