On the January 6th episode of YouTube variety show “Zzanbro Shin Dong-yup,” actors Gong Hyo-jin and Lee Min-ho appeared as guests to promote tvN’s Saturday and Sunday drama “When the Stars Gossip”.
While talking about her husband currently serving in the military, Gong Hyo-jin said, “After I got married, Min-ho kept saying how “jealous” he was.” Lee Min-ho shared candidly: “Marriage is probably the most important decision in life, beyond career or job. I’m seriously thinking about it, but I still can’t find the certainty.“
Gong Hyo-jin also talked about Kevin Oh’s proposal, jokingly offering to assist with Lee Min-ho’s proposal plans. She assured him: “Don’t worry; I will help you with your proposal. I will examine the woman for you because only women can judge other women.” Lee Min-ho nodded in agreement, saying, “I trust you.”
When MC Shin Dong-yup asked him about his ideal partner, Lee Min-ho replied: “A natural person, someone who is true to themselves and has that kind of charm.” He praised Gong Hyo-jin as a role model in this regard, saying: “In that sense, I like someone like Hyo-jin. If he wants to grumble, grumble; if he wants to grumble, grumble. It’s natural. From the first time I met her, I felt her fundamental respect and consideration for others, which allows her to be herself without harming others. It’s very comforting.”
Gong Hyo-jin added jokingly, “I’m actively looking for someone for Min-ho right now“, to which Lee Min-ho replied: “He is working hard to find someone.” He revealed: “I rarely receive phone calls that last more than five minutes. But with Hyo-jin, our calls last two hours, of which about an hour and fifty minutes involve me listening to her concerns. Regarding Lee Min-ho’s dating style, Gong Hyo-jin joked: “He claims to be good at this.” Lee Min-ho confidently declared: “I’m a romantic.” He added: “Once I focus on something, I have to follow through with it. If I have feelings for someone, I commit fully.” Gong Hyo-jin chimed in jokingly: “His stamina may be short-lived, but he gives it his all.” When Shin Dong-yup noticed that the word “resistance” could be misunderstood, Gong Hyo-jin awkwardly scratched his head, prompting Lee Min-ho to joke “Let’s talk about another type of resistance”, eliciting laughter.
Reflecting on his youth, Lee Min-ho shared: “I only started meeting people in the last few years. In my 20s and 30s I preferred isolation. I have found that meeting people often leads to disappointment. I realized that I needed to meet people who made me feel natural and comfortable. If I went out to dinner and came back feeling uncomfortable or unlike myself, it left a bad aftertaste.”
Lee Min-ho also recalled his starring role in “Boys Over Flowers.” He said: “After the first episode aired, my personal blog was flooded with hateful comments because my character was being bullied by Geum Jan-di. That episode only had scenes of me being a bully. My blog, which used to get a few thousand visitors, suddenly had 500,000~600,000 visitors, all with hateful comments. But after the second episode, that hatred turned into affection.”
