Squid gameHwang director and showrunner Dong Hyuk shared his thoughts on the recent controversy over actor Park Sung Hoon’s NSFW parody.
Park, who plays a transgender woman in the show’s final season, was caught in a lie after claiming he “accidentally” uploaded a pornographic parody of the show’s promotional poster to Instagram.
The actor admitted he lied, retracting his claim that it had been uploaded without his knowledge, and said he intended to send it to a manager instead.
Hwang expressed confusion and disgust over the actor’s actions in an interview with Xport News.
“As far as I know, something like this came out overseas in the first season. In the past, this happened every time a famous work came out, right? It’s unfortunate. It’s a story that completely destroys the meaning of the work itself,” he said. he said.
“I haven’t talked to Sung Hoon about this issue. I think someone sent it to him, but I haven’t heard how he ended up uploading it. Actually, I want to know too. Why did he make such a mistake?”
The post, uploaded on December 30, was quickly removed.
“It appears that Park Sung-hoon accidentally pressed the wrong button while checking the numerous DMs he received, and this ended up in his story,” the agency said in an initial statement.
“The actor himself was very surprised and is thinking about it. We will work hard to make sure something like this never happens again.”
