During the 2024 MBC Drama Awards broadcast on January 5, Chae Soo-bin was announced as the winner in the miniseries category.
As one of the ceremony’s MCs, Chae Soo-bin stepped down from the MC podium to accept the trophy and flowers on stage after her name was called.
In his acceptance speech, he said,
“Before I came here, I heard heartbreaking news and my heart is deeply heavy. I want to express my most sincere condolences.”
He continued,
“Since I was little I dreamed of acting. Watching TV, I admired how actors could live such different lives through their roles. Every project felt like a gift to me. And not just for me: if it can provide comfort, joy or happiness to someone else, I feel truly grateful for that.”
Chae Soo-bin expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to portray a touching love story “When the phone rings” thanking the production team.
He gave a special thank you to his co-star Yoo Yeon-seok, saying:
“I called him ‘Captain Yoo’ on set and admired him a lot. He guided me and helped me a lot and I am sincerely grateful to him for this.” Yoo Yeon-seok played her husband in the drama.
To close his speech, Chae Soo-bin said:
“For this project I learned sign language, so I would like to say something in sign language.” He then signed, “Through my role as Hee-joo in this drama, I was happy to connect with all of you. Thank you for your love.”
