He’s not even a Korean citizen.
South Korea is currently facing a tumultuous political landscape due to the impeachment of its president Yoon Suk Yeol and the subsequent arrest warrant against him that he and his supporters are preventing from being executed.
Amid this turmoil, South Korean celebrities especially showed their support for the protesters who demanded that Yoon Suk Yeol be held accountable for attempting to impose martial law on December 3, KST. But one singer recently expressed his support for the impeached president Instagraminviting fierce criticism.
January 3, KST, singer JK Kim Dong Wook took to his Instagram and posted a photo of the Anyway (the Korean flag) with a caption implying that protecting President Yoon from the Corruption Investigation Bureau (CIO) investigation was critical to saving the country.
“Protecting the President is the way to protect the country! Who cares about the CIO? LOL.”

This wasn’t the first time the singer had been criticized for his controversial political views. On December 1, he commented on the deadly tragedy of the Jeju plane crash, saying that people should not be “force sadness.”
It is never okay to force sadness for any reason. Just because you haven’t posted a photo on social media doesn’t mean you’re not sad, and not writing a post doesn’t mean you’re not grieving. The new year has just arrived. Shouldn’t we all live another year in joy and sadness with our loved ones, sharing our smiles and tears?

JK Kim Dong Wook’s incendiary comments have angered Korean netizens. Many pointed out that he is not even a South Korean citizen, but a Canadian, and therefore disputed his opinion on the political situation in the country.
- “Why does a foreigner interfere in the affairs of another country?”
- “Where is this foreigner trying to stick his nose? Go out.”
- “Bullshit.”
- “A foreign beast is interfering with someone else’s country, LOL.”
- “The Canadian should let it go.”
