The girl group joined a lineup filled with some of the biggest names in K-Pop to celebrate the achievements of the industry’s most successful artists in 2024. While the ceremony was originally scheduled for January 4 and 5, it was rescheduled on January 6 and 7 in light of South Korea’s period of national mourning following the tragic plane crash in Jeju, which killed 179 people.

Despite announcing their separation from ADOR in November, NewJeans honored their commitments to the company by delivering a memorable performance.

Dressed in matching white outfits, the five members performed some of their most popular songs, including “How Sweet,” “Supernatural” and “Attention.” Their dedication did not go unnoticed, as they also received two awards: the Cosmopolitan Artist Award and Best Digital Song for their hit “How Sweet.”

However, it was the group’s unexpected gesture at the end of their performance that caught the audience’s attention. As they prepared to leave the stage, Minji (the oldest member of the group) called the girls together and they gave each other a heartfelt group hug.

Fans interpreted this moment as a symbolic gesture of the end of their journey with ADOR. Some even took it as a sign of celebration that the group is finally “free” from the label.

While some are sad that NewJeans’ future outside of and after ADOR is still unknown, many are excited to see where the group will be after overcoming these challenges.
