Comedian Gwak Beom denies accusations of racism over rosé ‘APT.’ Parody

On December 26, the YouTube channel “TT Studio” uploaded the third episode of Physiognomy 101 with the title “Past Lives: Parasite or Parasyte? Comedians to the core, Gwak Beom and Lee Chang-ho.

In the episode, hosts Gwak Beom and Lee Chang-ho joined host Eom Ji-yoon to talk about their recent activities and consulted physiognomist Park Sung-jun.

Eom Ji-yoon mentioned Gwak Beom’s Bruno Mars parody in the “APT” music video, saying: “When we talk about you two, we can’t leave out your alter egos.”

Gwak Beom, appearing agitated, replied, “This has turned into quite a problem.” Lee Chang-ho added, “There were a lot of comments from foreigners saying it was racist.”

Eom Ji-yoon then asked Gwak Beom his thoughts on the matter. Gwak Beom clarified, “You were there for the filming, I only drew the beard on my naked face. What aspect of all this can be called racism?”

Eom Ji-yoon explained that she understood why the accusations of racism surfaced while rewatching the program they filmed together. He showed a photo from the shoot in which Gwak Beom’s face appeared unusually dark compared to the others in the group.

Afterwards, Gwak Beom and Lee Chang-ho met with physiognomist Park Sung-jun to discuss various matters.

Lee Chang-ho asked: “Will I succeed?” Park Sung-jun replied, “Your face shows a carefree energy. You have excessive ambition and a strong drive to succeed, but the gap between reality and your aspirations holds you back.

Eom Ji-yoon then asked: “What is our compatibility if we work together?” Park Sung-jun replied, “Energetically, Lee Chang-ho gravitates towards you.”

Eom Ji-yoon jokingly added, “This explains why he keeps calling me late at night to ask if I’m asleep.” before bursting out laughing and joking, “It’s just like a parasite.”
