At 9pm on December 27, SBS’ “Curious Stories Y” will delve into allegations of negligence during Song Mino’s alternative military service.
Song Mino began serving as a public service employee in March last year. However, after being discharged, he now finds himself at the center of controversy. Allegations emerged that he failed to report properly to his designated workplace, a facility of convenience for residents, and neglected assigned duties. What exactly happened during Song Mino’s time working in public service?
The production team was able to meet Seong-hyun (aka), who says he has been working alongside Song Mino for about a year. During this period, Song Mino was in charge of dealing with civil claimants at a public agency that operates public parking and convenience services and delivering notices to the post office.
However, Seong-hyun pointed out some questionable aspects of Song Mino’s work performance. He claimed that Song Mino did not perform telephone or face-to-face homework properly, citing his status as a well-known “celebrity” as the reason. According to Seong-hyun, “He avoided phone homework because his name would be revealed” AND “He also avoided interacting directly with visitors, saying they might recognize his face.“
Furthermore, Song Mino often used the vacation and sick leave he had been granted, resulting in extended absences from work. On the date of his official discharge, December 23, he once again called in sick and did not show up for work. Could there have been unavoidable personal circumstances behind his behavior? Song Mino had previously revealed in a broadcast that he suffers from panic disorder and bipolar disorder. In light of this, the facility has adjusted its working hours to accommodate him, allowing him to start at 10am and finish at 7pm. However, suspicions deepened when it was revealed that he attended his younger brother’s wedding in San Francisco in May last year, during his tour of duty, and traveled to Hawaii in October this year.
There were other questionable circumstances. In March 2024, about a year after starting his alternative service at Mapo Facility Management Corporation, Song Mino moved to a live-in convenience facility. Notably, the supervisor who managed Song Mino also moved to the same facility in February. This has led to speculation about the relationship between the two.
Meanwhile, SBS’ “Curious Stories Y” will air on Friday, December 27 at 9pm.
