On December 18, ADOR stated: “All accounts outside the official SNS established by ADOR were created without prior agreement as provided in the exclusivity agreement. Advertisers and other third parties have raised inquiries and complaints regarding these accounts and their content.”
NewJeans launched a new Instagram account called “jeanzforfree” on December 14. Former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin liked the account’s first post.
Members said: “(This account) is really us. We will meet here more often.”
The group claimed that their exclusive contract with ADOR was terminated on November 29.
ADOR disputed this claim, however, stating that the exclusivity agreement remains valid, and filed a lawsuit to confirm its validity.
ADOR further explained: “Independent entertainment activities conducted through these accounts could lead to legal issues, and we have communicated our concerns to the artists and their legal guardians (members’ parents).”
The agency added: “NewJeans already has dedicated platforms for communicating with fans, such as Phoneing, as well as official SNS accounts on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter). We hope that members will continue to communicate with fans through official channels as they have done before.”
On the “jeanzforfree” Instagram account, NewJeans shared photos from their recent photoshoot for Vogue Korea. Interestingly, the team name “NewJeans” was absent from the feature, with only member names listed. Former CEO Min Hee-jin was the creative director of this photoshoot.
NewJeans will participate in the first day of the Golden Disc Awards, which will be held in Fukuoka, Japan, from January 4th to 5th.
