On December 7, Lim shared a post on Instagram to celebrate her dog Siwol’s birthday. While seemingly innocuous, the update struck a chord with some Koreans amid ongoing political tensions surrounding President Yoon Suk Yeol. Critics argued that the timing of the assignment was insensitive, considering the country’s current climate of unrest.
The situation escalated when screenshots of Lim’s alleged replies to a fan’s direct message started circulating online. In the exchange, one sender questioned his decision to post during such a politically charged time, noting that many of his older fans had experienced past martial law. Lim reportedly responded by stating that he is not a politician and questioning why he should be expected to speak out.

Some fans, already disappointed by his prolonged silence, have expressed their disapproval as his next concert on December 27 approaches.
On the other hand, Herald Pop reports that his popular fan club, Hero Era, has been actively involved in charity work in recent weeks. Donations of eco-friendly rice, monetary contributions, and volunteer efforts were reported, apparently in an attempt to shift attention to positive news.
Regardless of the donations, netizens remain divided, with some dismissing the efforts as a distraction from Lim’s response. Numerous comments on the viral donation post chose to mock Lim’s DM by replying only with “What.”
Meanwhile, others elaborated more on their feelings about Lim’s image.
