SHINee’s Taemin appears to be getting a “replay” of his YouTube hacking fiasco from September.
The idol’s agency Big Planet Made Entertainment released a statement announcing a legal crackdown against the culprits.
“At around 3 am on the 15th, we again detected a hacker attack on our artist Taemin’s official YouTube channel,” he said.
“After becoming aware of the hacking, we immediately completed the recovery and related measures, and on the morning of the 15th, we sent and reported the suspected hacking ID and related materials to YouTube.”
The agency’s report, however, led YouTube to shut down the channel.
“YouTube informed us around 1pm on the 16th that the channel would be deleted due to violating the channel’s community guidelines, and the channel is currently closed,” the agency said.
“We are discussing a quick resolution with YouTube and will do our best so that both parties can continue to communicate and quickly clarify the facts so that the channel can be restored as quickly as possible.”
Big Planet stressed that they are looking at “strong legal action” to catch the unknown hackers, starting with police involvement.
Below is the full statement from Big Planet Made Entertainment:
HI.
This is Big Planet Made.
On the 15th, around 3 am, a hacker attack was again detected on the official YouTube channel of our artist Taemin. After becoming aware of the hack, we immediately completed the recovery and related measures, and on the morning of the 15th, we sent and reported the suspected hacking ID and related materials to YouTube.
However, YouTube informed us of the channel’s deletion due to violating the channel’s community guidelines at around 1pm today (16th) and the channel is currently closed.
We have thoroughly implemented combinations of strong passwords, two-step authentication and security, and have done everything possible to prevent hacker attacks, but an unexpected situation has arisen and we apologize for causing inconvenience and concern to fans. We are currently discussing a quick resolution with YouTube and will do our best to ensure that both parties continue to communicate and quickly clarify the facts so that the issue can be resolved as soon as possible.
Furthermore, we will take strong legal action, such as reporting to the police, the incident where Taemin’s YouTube channel was repeatedly hacked.
We apologize to any users who may have experienced inconvenience due to the sudden situation, and we will work to restore the situation as quickly as possible.
Thank you.
