A major financial firm has reportedly dropped NewJeans as an advertising model.

On December 13, Money Today published an exclusive report revealing that Shinhan Financial Group has decided to terminate the group’s model contract and eliminate any possibility of renewal.

Industry sources also said that the decision is a consequence of the group’s unilateral announcement of the termination of its contract with ADOR. Since 2023 the members have been the brand’s advertising models on its “SOL” platform.

An official from Shinhan Financial Group also released a brief statement to address the issue. Although the possibility of a renewal is now unlikely for “Super SOL”, he added that the members will carry out their activities for other subsidiaries of the company.

“NewJeans’ advertising contract with the Super SOL brand, which ends in December, will not be extended,” the official said.

The news also comes after the Korea Music Content Association (KMCA) called for music and award shows in the K-pop industry to boycott NewJeans, as well as alume, made up of former FIFTY FITY members Sio, Saena and Aran.

The proposal was made to prevent K-pop artists from “tampering”.

The issue has also been highlighted by the organization, which plans to eliminate all possible factors or problems that can shake the foundations of the K-pop industry.
