The 2024 KBS Song Festival has officially canceled its segments, especially its upcoming red carpet and photo wall events.

On December 13, Ilgan Sports reported that KBS released an official statement, saying that the red carpet and artist photo wall event has been canceled.

“Following the discussion we had with the production team, we have decided to cancel the ‘2024 KBS Song Festival’ artist photo wall event, scheduled for December 20 at 4pm, KST,” KBS shared.

“We would like to ask for your kind understanding, as this decision was made to focus on the live broadcast event and provide a better show.”

The event initially planned to hold a simple photoshoot with attendees instead of the traditional red carpet and pre-show interviews that are held every year. However, this alternative option was also canceled by the organizers.

The cancellation is due to ongoing protests in South Korea, calling for the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol.

On December 3, the South Korean president announced martial law, prompting an extreme reaction across the country. Despite the revocation, the president’s actions provoked an extreme public reaction. Notably, KBS is based in Yeouido, where the demonstrations take place.

Aside from the music festival, KBS also canceled the red carpet segment of the upcoming 2024 KBS Entertainment Awards.
