At 9:05 am on the 2nd, Cube Entertainment is trading at KRW 17,440 (about USD 12.4) on the KOSDAQ market, up KRW 1,060 (6.47%) from the previous trading day. During the session, the stock rose to 18,010 KRW (around 12.8 USD), an increase of 9.95%.
The surge in Cube Entertainment’s stock value is attributed to the news of the contract renewal of its group, (G)I-DLE. On November 30, (G)I-DLE announced their new contract during “MMA 2024” held at Incheon’s Inspire Arena, where they also won the grand prize for “Record of the Year”.
Additionally, (G)I-DLE’s leader Jeon Soyeon confirmed on December 1 via her Instagram that all five members of the group have decided to continue their journey with Cube Entertainment.
Soyeon shared, “Over the past seven years we have experienced joy, sadness, frustration and hope together. These experiences have made us even stronger as a group.”
He continued, “Since we come from very different countries and backgrounds and only met as adults, it took us a little longer to get to this point. However, all five of us shared the same thought: to stay together.
Expressing his happiness, he said, “I am incredibly happy and proud to continue to be the leader of (G)I-DLE for a long time. Let’s stay together forever, with Neverland and as idols.
This announcement comes after Soyeon caused a stir during her live performance at 2024 MOM Press in Osaka, Japan on November 23. In his rap, he directly addressed comments about former member Soojin’s departure, singing:
“In 2021, you said, ‘What can you do without Soojin?’
You talked about contracts and the end of the group.
If I had let those words influence me, I wouldn’t have gotten this far.
This sparked speculation among fans, with rumors circulating about a possible dissolution or non-renewal of Soyeon’s contract with Cube Entertainment.
On November 30, Soyeon surprised fans during the match Melon Music Awards 2024 at the Incheon Inspire Arena, where (G)I-DLE received the Record of the year prize. He revealed, “Before going on stage, the five of us decided to renew our contracts. We promise to continue creating great music together not just next year, but for many years to come.”
