On tvN’s variety show Take the block quiz, ROSÈ talked about his friendship with Bruno Mars, surprising viewers and hosts with an impromptu phone call to the singer.
ROSÈ expressed regret that Bruno, who was supposed to come with her to the show, was unable to complete the appearance due to visa problems.
In an effort to make up for the absence, he attempted to call the “Treasure” singer, adding that while he is normally “shy,” he is proactive in attending events in Korea.
ROSÈ added that the two had met a year ago when she attended Bruno’s concert in Seoul and was inspired by his impressive performance, prompting her to think about a potential collaboration. The BLACKPINK member even went as far as attending the concert’s afterparty in an attempt to meet the singer, even though he left earlier than she expected.
The two had the chance to collaborate a year later, with “APT”. being one of three songs he sent to Bruno.
Reflecting on the chart-topping success of “APT.”, ROSÈ revealed that the more seasoned elder advised her, a workaholic, to savor the joy of creating a hit and indulge in the process.
“Bruno sometimes tells me to enjoy the moment. Things like that don’t happen often,” he admitted.
The BLACKPINK member also spoke about missing the group, addressing the girls on the busy day of the song’s release.
“I missed them a lot. Even the day the song came out, I video called Lisa for more than an hour,” he said.
“I got a lot of calls, but I said I only talked to you. I also texted Jisoo for an hour and Jennie sent me a video. We’re all so busy and I miss them.”
