IU praised for her charitable donations which to date amount to a whopping $4 million

IU may be widely known as Korea’s Little Sister for her acting and musical successes, but many fans know that she also has a heart of gold.

THE Palette singer is once again making rounds on the Internet for generous donations of kimchi to the Korean Association of Unmarried Mothers, giving each member over 20 pounds of side dishes and 50 million won (about $35,000) to the Korean Association for incurable diseases of children.

Fans have noticed that from his role in Brokera Korean drama about abandoned children and new mothers, the actress amplified her noblesse oblige.

IU donated 50 million won (about $35,000) each to the Happiness Foundation, the Korean Association of Families of Unmarried Mothers, and the Korean Foundation for Supporting the Elderly in Need, as well as 100 million won (about $70,000) to Heart To Heart Foundation as part of its annual birthday tradition of giving this past May.

IU has been praised for her philanthropic contributions in the past, with total contributions to charities and causes amounting to over 6 billion won (over $4 million).

The singer has funded scholarships at Dongduk Girls’ High School, her alma mater, and has sent donations to the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation – a group that supports low-income and vulnerable groups – as well as the Korea Disabled Welfare Facilities Association, the Korean organization Association for the Welfare of the Elderly and Korean Association of Unmarried Mothers.

Last May, the singer also donated 100 million won (about $70,000) to ChildFund Korea, which helps children affected by poverty and disease in developing countries, for Children’s Day in South Korea.

IU also donated 200 million won (about $140,000) to charities in September 2022 to celebrate the 14th anniversary of her career debut, as well as contributing 100 million won (about $70,000) to flood relief of South Korea in 2022.
