YOUNG POSSE has drawn criticism for his upcoming winter track “Santa Claus is coming to Hood,” resulting in the song being omitted.

According to DSP Media and BEATS Entertainment, fifth-generation K-pop girl group YOUNG POSSE will hold a winter concert for fans, titled “HOMECOMING POSSE,” on December 14. Furthermore, it was also announced that the group will drop songs from the winter season.

While the announcement sparked excitement among fans, some were disappointed by the song titles “Street Carol” (feat. John Park) and “Santa Claus is coming to Hood.”

YOUNG POSSE is known to be influenced by the hip-hop genre and netizens came to think that the titles of the group’s most recent songs were mocking black culture.

The backlash eventually reached agencies DSP Media and BEATS Entertainment, which both released a statement announcing the removal of “Santa Claus is Coming to the Neighborhood.”

However, the agencies revealed that “Street Carol” would be released on December 13, at 6 PM, KST, as scheduled.

“After taking into consideration the opinions of our fans, we have decided not to include the song ‘Santa Claus is coming to Hood’ from the YOUNG POSSE digital album.”

The statement adds: “We will do our best to be more thoughtful of the opinions of our fans and all listeners moving forward. Thank you.”

Meanwhile, fans also shared their thoughts on the incident and encouraged agencies to be more sensitive in planning.
