They find it unfortunate.
On December 6th, New Jeans released an official statement refuting the legal action taken by I LOVE IT.
Below is the official press release released by the members.
“Hi, I’m Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein. We apologize for issuing this statement in such chaotic times. We were recently informed that ADOR has filed a lawsuit against us to confirm the validity of our exclusive contract.
In the statement they did not adequately disclose that there was no violation of the exclusivity agreement. They only repeated claims that because there was company support and investment, the contract could not be terminated until they were recovered.
However, we have already returned profits that exceeded investments to ADOR and HYBE. Despite this, HYBE attempted to defame and lower our value, with the assistance of ADOR after the takeover. This is no different than saying that the company that is supposed to protect us was creating harmful comments. Considering this a breach of trust, we concluded that it is very likely that we will suffer further damage in the future.
Our trust in ADOR and HYBE has already collapsed. They have not adequately fulfilled their obligation to protect artists and have repeatedly violated the terms of the contract. As stated in the contract, we no longer have any reason to cooperate with ADOR and HYBE.
The contract clearly states that if ADOR does not fulfill its obligations, we can terminate the contract. Despite the breach of trust, forcing us to work for another five years is not only unreasonable but also inhumane.
Even though we gave ADOR a 14 day grace period to correct the breach of contract, they did not accept our request. With this we have communicated to them the termination of the contract following the exclusivity agreement, with immediate effect.
ADOR has filed a lawsuit seeking a ruling on the legality of the matter, but this is only a procedure for confirmation. We find it very unfortunate that they have made a statement that misleads the public into thinking that the contract is still valid.
Once again, we want to clarify that we are no longer affiliated with ADOR as of November 29, 2024. ADOR cannot interfere with any of our activities.
After reading the articles about how they were trying to reconcile with us on the outside while persecuting and slandering us, we couldn’t help but feel fear and disgust. No matter how much they try to make trouble, the five of us are united and no one can separate us.
While they find the lawsuit unfortunate, they hope the trial will reveal the process that led to the termination of the contract.
“We will faithfully execute our remaining programs with ADOR as promised immediately upon termination of our contract. However, we saw that managers and producers who helped us with our programs were harassed and their laptops were taken away by ADOR and HYBE.
We find it difficult to accept this behavior towards staff and find it painful that the damage caused by this inhumane company is not limited to us. Although the road ahead may not be easy, we dream of living with our fans who love us with healthy musical activities. And we want to make that dream come true.
Even after HYBE’s problems were revealed several times, ADOR did not correct them even after replacing the CEO. In addition to not protecting us, they also did not ask for improvements to other labels which damaged the company’s reputation and spread false information.
We find it very unfortunate that ADOR has constantly made excuses and filed lawsuits. We hope that the trial will reveal the process that led to ADOR’s termination and breach of contract.
We want to be courageous and healthy people. We sincerely thank everyone who has supported us thus far and ask for your continued support for the five of us. Thank you.”
Meanwhile, ADOR recently filed a lawsuit against NewJeans to confirm that the exclusive contract was still valid.
