Before the renewal of her contract with JYPE, Jihyo revealed that she was almost about to quit as TWICE’s leader.

On December 4, the idol appeared in Ep. 12 of the YouTube web show “Naraesik”. At the camp, Jihyo talked about various topics, such as feeling exhausted before the group’s contract renewal with JYP Entertainment in July 2022.
While all members agreed to extend their contracts regardless of personal concerns, the “Killin’ Me Good” singer said she wanted to step down as Nonet’s leader and revealed why she ended up doing so again.
“I thought about telling everyone that I didn’t want to be the leader anymore. (…) When we first debuted, I didn’t think the leader had done much. All I did was say ‘two, three.’ We used to show up and give our acceptance speeches every time we received awards.”
He continued:
“I’ve only felt the weight of this position recently. My responsibilities as a leader aren’t exactly grueling, but I feel like I might die five years earlier than expected.”
Ultimately, he accepted his fate to continue being the leader of TWICE.
“It’s… just the way I am. I can’t help it.”

While talking about the topic, the conversation smoothly focused on his relationship with each member. MC Narae said she is most likely closest to Jeongyeon, but Jihyo clarified:
“I’m close to everyone, but I think I talk to Jeongyeon the most. We’ve known each other for a long time.”
During their training days, the singer spent 10 years in JYP, while its youngest member was an aspiring idol for seven years. Their friendship has been through good times and bad times, but their laid-back personalities saved it all.
Every time they fight, Jihyo reveals that they don’t make up.
