Once again, so-called “expressive conspiracy theorists” are on the rise.
The 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards were held on November 29 at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. Jung Woo-sung took the stage as a host together with Hwang Jung-min, his co-star in the film “12.12: The Day”.
This marked Jung Woo-sung’s first public appearance since news broke on November 24 that he had an illegitimate child with model Moon Gabi.
Naturally, all eyes were on Jung Woo-sung’s every move during the ceremony. Maintaining a solemn demeanor, he began his speech by thanking the audience for watching “12.12: The Day,” saying: “I stand here today with the sincere hope that my personal issues will not overshadow the film or the efforts of all who worked on it.“
He continued: “To everyone who has given me love and expectations, I deeply apologize for causing concern and disappointment. I will take full responsibility for all criticism. As a father, I will fulfill my responsibilities towards my son until the end.”
His heartfelt words, which express responsibility as a father, were welcomed with applause from the audience. Among those caught on camera offering their support were junior actors Lim Ji-yeon, Park Ju-hyun and Lee Jung-ha.
The problem arose after the broadcast when some netizens felt the applause was inappropriate and started criticizing those who supported Jung Woo-sung. Extremist commenters flocked to Lim Ji-yeon’s social media accounts, leaving comments such as: “Really, Yeon-jin (his villainous role in “The Glory”)?”, “What exactly do you maintain regarding Jung Woo-sung?” AND “The world of acting is truly their own separate universe.“
Lim Ji-yeon has a contract with the Artist Company, where Jung Woo-sung serves as director, making them colleagues in the same agency. However, this did little to quell the unwarranted wave of speculative criticism aimed at his facial expressions and actions.
