NewJeans proceeds with Japanese program as planned after informing ADOR of contract termination, fans rejoice

On November 29 (local time), NewJeans appeared on TV Asahi’s music program “Music Station”. Performing “Ditto” and “How Sweet”, the group received enthusiastic applause from Japanese fans.

When other guests in the BABYMONSTER group were asked what their favorite Japanese cuisine was, they responded with “sukiyaki.” NewJeans’ Minji chimed in: “We love sukiyaki too.Additionally, Tetsuya Murakami of the Japanese group Gospellers mentioned his admiration for NewJeans, saying he greeted them during their June concert at the Tokyo Dome, attracting attention.

This marks NewJeans’ first official program since announcing the termination of its exclusive contract with ADOR. At 8.30pm on November 28, the group held an emergency press conference, 15 days after sending a content certification letter to ADOR on November 13, outlining its demands. They declared the termination of the contract effective at midnight on November 29, citing that “ADOR has neither the will nor the ability to protect NewJeans“.

The group stressed that responsibility for the situation lies with the ADOR, saying: “We have no reason to pay any penalties.” They also expressed their desire to keep the NewJeans Group name and continue working with former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin.

NewJeans further clarified: “The five of us do not want anyone to be harmed due to the termination of our contract. We will fully perform all contractual obligations entered into between ADOR and others prior to the termination date.”

In response, ADOR expressed regret for the press conference, stating: “It is disappointing that a press conference regarding the termination of the exclusive contract was planned and executed without sufficient scrutiny, even before receiving a response to the content certification letter.“Ador added:”ADOR, as a contractual party, has not violated the contract and the simple assertion of the violation of the relationship of trust does not constitute grounds for termination.”

ADOR further stated: “If possible, we would like to meet and talk in person. Please take your time to reflect as you go through your program in Japan and feel free to inform us of your availability. We will also listen carefully to what was said during today’s press conference.”
