NewJeans took social media by storm with their emergency press conference on November 28, when the members announced their departure from ADOR.
The incident was followed by the group’s latest statement regarding the termination of the contract with the company.
According to the group’s Nov. 29 statement, NewJeans chronicled the events leading up to the resolution and highlighted ADOR’s shortcomings. They also shared that the resolution will go into effect on the 29th.
“We signed a contract with the ADOR, the agency that has the responsibility and duty to manage us diligently. We submitted our last request to the ADOR on November 13 to rectify their violations. However, the rectification period of 14 days has expired and ADOR has refused to correct the issues.”
“As former artists of ADOR, we have fulfilled our contractual obligations and the termination of our contract was only due to the violation of ADOR’s duties and we are not liable to sanctions. The five of us do not want to hurt anyone who is affected by the termination of our contract and we will diligently comply with all contractual obligations prior to its conclusion.”
NewJeans then stated that the group could no longer maintain its relationship with ADOR as it would lead to emotional distress. Furthermore, they also assured fans that they would do their best to release new music and content despite the obstacles.
“This decision was made after long and thorough reflection. We can no longer remain in ADOR, which has failed to do its fundamental duty to protect its artists, and keeping up with the company would only cause us extreme emotional distress. So , we have decided to leave ADOR.”
“We are also hurt and shocked by the media game that is based only on false facts. We hope that this does not happen after the termination of our contract. We will continue to do our best to bring you good music and we thank you for your support for us in future.”
ADOR previously acknowledged NewJeans’ press conference and denied any alleged violations complained about by members. The company also shares the hope of having a meeting with members for a resolution.
