They couldn’t leave without the manager.
STAYC they famously didn’t have cell phones until after their first victory. According to the girls, without their phones things became so uncomfortable that they couldn’t even go to the bathroom freely. Being first timers, they were shocked that they couldn’t even do this due to the lack of communication tools. They only received their devices back after winning first place.
During a recent livestream, the girls shared that because they didn’t have cell phones, they couldn’t leave the waiting room as they wouldn’t be contactable if there was a problem. They could only go to the bathroom together with their manager. If their manager wasn’t there, they would have to wait for him to return.
We didn’t have a cell phone, so when the director left the waiting room it was just us and we couldn’t go to the bathroom. If the director hadn’t been there we wouldn’t have been able to go. Let’s not even lie, but we couldn’t even go to the bathroom even though it was right across the hall, right across the waiting room. Even though the hallway was only as wide as a table. We should ask other staff members to contact our manager for us. It was really difficult. Then we came out with “ASAP” and got first place with “STEREOTYPE” and [we got phones.]
