According to a Nov. 21 report from Newsis, Jiyeon and Hwang’s divorce mediation concluded at the Seoul Family Court on Nov. 20. Neither party attended the mediation session and only their legal representatives were present. They reached an agreement on the division of assets.
The couple, who married in December 2022, have now officially separated after about two years. They faced various rumors and speculation regarding their divorce, which ended in a tumultuous manner after being in the media spotlight since June this year.
Although the details of their property division were not disclosed, the object that attracts the most attention is the luxury penthouse where the couple had lived after their marriage.
The couple’s home was once featured on the tvN program “Free Doctor.” As a result, the couple resided in the Signiel Residence in Lotte World Tower, located in the Songpa neighborhood of Seoul. The Signiel Residence, which began accepting tenants in April 2017, occupies floors 42 to 71 of the Lotte World Tower. The apartments vary in size, with floors 44 to 46 ranging from 209 to 387 m², floors 47 to 56 from 271 to 374 m² and floors 61 to 67 ranging from 350 to 384 m². The penthouses are located from the 68th to the 71st floor, with sizes ranging from 667 to 1,238 m2, with a duplex structure.
The cost of apartments ranges from KRW 4.2 billion to KRW 37 billion, with an average price of KRW 75 to 80 million for 3.3 square meters. The price of the penthouses is approximately KRW 120 million for 3.3 square meters. Residents of Signiel Residence have access to amenities such as a fitness club, golf driving range and sauna, free for two people per household for 20 years. The complex also offers unique community spaces on the 42nd floor, such as a café, gallery, party room, guest rooms and a wine cellar, and strict security measures that require residents to change elevators twice.
The division of assets will be determined by evaluating the contributions made by each spouse to the assets accumulated together during their married life.
