Kim Junsu addressed recent reports that he was targeted in a shocking extortion case involving a female BJ (TV jockey). The famous JX member and musical actors agency released a statement regarding the recent blackmail controversy.

On November 13, it was revealed that police had requested an arrest warrant for Ms. A, a BJ on the streaming platform SOOP (formerly AfreecaTV). She was accused of the law on the aggravated punishment of specific economic crimes for alleged extortion 840 million KRW (approximately $602,323) by Kim Junsu in three years. Extortion was reportedly involved 101 cases of threatsstarting from September 2020 and will continue until October 2023.

The case developed after Ms A, who initially met Kim Junsu in 2019, secretly recorded their private conversations. He then used the recordings to threaten Junsu, claiming he would distribute them on social media unless he provided money and valuables.

November 15th North Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency confirmed Ms. A’s arrest, adding that she has been forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for further investigation. A police spokesperson said: “We are indeed investigating Ms A; However, we cannot reveal further details as the case is ongoing.”

Later that day, Kim Junsu’s agency, Palm Tree Island, released an official statement to reassure fans. The agency expressed its commitment to safeguarding Kim Junsu’s rights, saying it will actively cooperate with legal authorities to address the matter. He also stressed that Junsu is trying his best to focus on his activities and thanked fans for their constant support during this difficult time.

We want to make it clear that Kim Junsu is a definitive victim in this case“, reads the statement. “After discovering that there are more victims of Ms. A’s extortion and threats, Kim Junsu has decided to take legal action to prevent further damage.”

Both fans and colleagues in the industry expressed their solidarity with Junsu, expressing hope for a quick resolution of the case.
