A recent announcement has raised some concerns.
A list of prohibited items is nothing new to concert-goers; A venue will often announce what attendees can and cannot bring prior to the event. That said, though, the “2024 MAMA Awards US” did raise some concerns as a group RIIZEThe battle of “OT7 vs. OT6” continues.
A viral one theqoo The post referenced the official MAMA Awards announcement, asking attendees to leave prohibited items at home. The list included generally prohibited items, such as firearms and fireworks which pose an obvious threat to the venue and its audience, but it was the “posters, banners and slogans” which sparked the discussion.
Some believed that this particular rule may have stemmed from the six-member online protest movement against RIIZE.
Former RIIZE’s Seunghan will debut as a solo artist
Since former member Seunghan‘s return to the team was announced, reversed and then turned into a solo debut, a group of “OT7” fans RIIZE worked for a protest at the MAMA Awards headed to the United States.

A TikTok in particular it was said to threaten “OT6” fans and allude to violence/gun violence. Considering the track record of mass shootings in the United States, the video was not well received, except for supportive comments that also suggested violent interactions. And while it was somewhat dismissed as humor, netizens wondered whether such online buzz could lead to a sizable list of banned items.
Although a similar series of articles was also banned from the “MAMA Awards Japan 2024”…
…OT7 fans accused MAMA and SM Entertainment to work together to ban posters, banners and slogans.
On the other hand, Korean netizens who read the news wondered whether the MAMA Awards should be held in the United States.
- “Please host him in Korea.”
- “Take him back to Korea, oh my God.”
- “I wish RIIZE would participate in the Japanese one instead. The United States seems too dangerous for both the artist and the fans.”
- “This is crazy… So dangerous, really.”
- “Why will the Korean awards ceremony take place in the United States and Japan? Just host it in Korea, it’s very simple.”
- “So messed up.”
- “Send RIIZE to Japan instead. What good will the American show bring? Fucking assholes.”
- “Wouldn’t the Korean fansites going to the American one also be in danger? From what I remember, there have been cases of violence against Asians with cameras in the past.”
The “MAMA Awards US 2024”, with the actor Bo Gum Park as host, will take place on November 21, 2024 in Los Angeles, California.
