He’s chasing his dreams!
South Korea recently concluded its annual College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) or Sunenung. About half a million high school students and graduates took the test to secure a place at their dream colleges. Among them, one candidate made headlines thanks to his incredible perseverance.
At 83, Lim Tae Soo was the oldest to take the test this year. On the morning of November 14, Thursday, she took the college entrance test at Hongik University Girls’ High School in Seoul’s Mapo district.
Lim, who is a student at Ilsung Girls Middle and High School, entered the exam site while being cheered on by her classmates. According to local media reports, as a young man he dreamed of becoming a teacher. But 70 years ago, when his father fell ill, he had to give up his studies.
Lim later married and gave birth to four children. Not only did she raise all four of them, but she also spent her final years helping raise her three grandchildren. After many years, when she finally found time for herself, Lim returned to school.
I raised all my children and sent them to college, so now I can study and I really enjoy taking Suneung. I really enjoy learning from all aspects. Even though it’s late, it’s incredibly fun and rewarding.

After finishing high school, Lim plans to study elder care business in college.
