“24 Years of Bonding”: G-Dragon Remains Part of the YG Family

G-Dragon and executive producer Yang Hyun-suk continue their affectionate bond despite working with different companies.

Yang Hyun-suk first brought G-Dragon to YG Entertainment at the age of 13, building a strong bond for over 20 years. Debuting in 2006 as the leader of BIGBANG, G-Dragon, with Yang’s constant support, has become a top-tier group leader and globally recognized solo artist.

Throughout their journey, Yang Hyun-suk acted as a mentor, friend, and family figure to G-Dragon, sharing knowledge in various fields, especially music. Their special bond transcends the typical artist-agency relationship, lasting even after G-Dragon’s departure from YG.

After his contract with YG expired, G-Dragon signed with Galaxy Corporation in December last year, marking a new beginning. Returning as a solo artist last month with his new digital single “POWER,” his continued influence was evident in both music and fashion.

G-Dragon proved his enduring bond with YG by contributing the title track “DRIP” for Baby Monster, YG’s new girl group, by nurturing his young ones. She also attended 2NE1’s concert last month, demonstrating her loyalty to the YG family by sitting next to Yang Hyun-suk, attracting considerable attention.

Furthermore, the choreography video of “POWER”, released on the 9th, was shot in YG’s rehearsal room, indicating close collaboration between them even after leaving. YG has also actively supported G-Dragon, with reports that they have granted him all rights to the “G-Dragon”, “GD”, and “GD” trademarks for his solo activities.
