The highly anticipated “2024 MBC Gayo Daejejeon: WANNABE” has officially announced its new dates following its cancellation last December.
On January 15, Korean news outlet Herald POP published an exclusive report detailing the new dates for the highly anticipated festival. According to television organization MBC, the two-day event has been rescheduled for January 29 and 30.
Originally scheduled for December 31, 2024, the event was canceled out of respect for the victims of the Jeju Air plane crash. It was also confirmed that there will be no changes in the artist lineup.
The event was supposed to be broadcast live, but MBC canceled the initiative during the period of mourning caused by the national tragedy. Instead, live performances were replaced with recorded broadcasts.
“The recorded broadcast reflects the atmosphere of mourning,” MBC also shared.
“We will cancel the New Year’s Eve countdown and reduce the number of segments and the festival will take place to a minimum focusing only on the performances of the artists, which have been prepared with great effort.”
MBC also responded to reports that the song festival will be broadcast during the Lunar New Year holiday. “Nothing has been confirmed yet,” he said.
The full lineup also includes artists like NewJeans, SHINee’s Taemin, Stray Kids, aespa, IVE, ATEEz, STAYC, ITZY and many more.
